Web Hosting in India (2026): Who Has Indian Servers, and INR Prices with GST

Posted Sep 9, 2026

For visitors in India, host on a server in India. Among mainstream hosts, Hostinger is the simple pick: India is one of its listed server locations for web and cloud plans, from ₹69 a month if you prepay 48 months (renewal ₹289, both before GST). Among local hosts, MilesWeb runs Indian data centres and bills in rupees. If your audience is spread worldwide or your site is mostly static, a server elsewhere plus a CDN can be enough.

Prices here were read on 21 Oct 2026 from the vendors' own Indian pages, and locations on 20 Oct 2026 from those pages and Hostinger's server-locations support article. Hostinger and MilesWeb were both advertising sales, so their intro prices can move at short notice. We show every intro price next to its renewal, with GST worked out, because the second bill is where Indian hosting plans differ most.

Which hosts have servers in India

A host that sells in rupees isn't necessarily hosting in India. Billing is a currency setting; location is the data centre your site actually runs from. This table lists only locations we could confirm on each provider's own page. Where a provider names a country but not a city, so do we.

For a typical website, the first two rows are what matter: a hosting plan with a control panel. AWS, Google Cloud and Azure are for developers running apps, where you manage the server or a platform on top. Earlier versions of this page named Mumbai and Nashik for MilesWeb. MilesWeb's own pages now name only countries, so we've removed the cities.

Why an India datacenter matters

Distance sets a floor on speed that no plan upgrade can remove. Light in fibre covers roughly 100 km for every millisecond of round-trip time, so the straight-line distance from Mumbai gives a minimum delay. Real routes add more. An Indian server keeps that floor near 10 ms. Singapore adds about 39 ms, Frankfurt about 66 ms and a US East data centre about 129 ms, and that's paid on every request a page makes.

Bar chart of minimum round-trip time from Mumbai by server location: Delhi 11 ms, Singapore 39 ms, Frankfurt 66 ms, London 72 ms, US East 129 ms, US West 142 ms.
Physics floor at about 1 ms per 100 km of great-circle distance from Mumbai. Real routes are slower; this is not a measured test.

So should an Indian site use a hosting region in the EU or the US? If India isn't on offer, choose the EU: Frankfurt or London carries about half the distance penalty of a US East server. Better still, choose Singapore if your host has it, at roughly a third. Best of all is a server in India. The difference matters most for dynamic pages, such as a store checkout, a logged-in dashboard or a WordPress site making many database calls, where the browser keeps going back to the server.

INR prices with GST: intro vs renewal

Indian hosting prices are quoted before GST, and both vendors we read say so. MilesWeb states that its prices exclude 18% GST. Hostinger says GST is added at checkout without naming the rate. We've applied 18% to both so the numbers compare.

Grouped bar chart of monthly India prices with 18% GST. Hostinger Single: Rs 81 intro, Rs 341 renewal. Hostinger Premium: Rs 164 and Rs 530. Hostinger Unlimited: Rs 235 and Rs 766. MilesWeb Premium: Rs 117 intro and Rs 341 renewal.
Hostinger 48-month and MilesWeb 36-month prices from their Indian pages, read 21 Oct 2026; 18% GST added by us.

Hostinger's Indian prices need a 48-month term. Single is ₹69 a month (₹3,312 upfront before GST), renewing at ₹289. Premium is ₹139, renewing at ₹449, and Unlimited is ₹199, renewing at ₹649. The Single plan's renewal is about 4.2 times its intro price; Premium's and Unlimited's are each about 3.2 to 3.3 times. With GST, Single's first term costs about ₹3,908 upfront, and each renewal month about ₹341.

MilesWeb's plan cards, on a 36-month view during its Diwali sale, show Starter at ₹69, Premium at ₹99, Unlimited at ₹149 and Cloud Startup at ₹299, each against a higher struck-through list price. The page's banner promises "same price at renewal", yet the vs-others table further down the same page lists that ₹99 Premium plan renewing at ₹289. We'd plan on the table's figure. A renewal promise is only as good as the line in your invoice, so screenshot the plan page when you buy.

On Indian plans, compare the renewal with GST. The headline ₹69 becomes about ₹341 a month on Hostinger's Single plan from the second term, and MilesWeb's ₹99 Premium lands at the same ₹341 if its table is right.

Hostinger — the mainstream India pick

Hostinger's support article lists India among its server locations for web and cloud hosting, VPS and its older cPanel plans. Its Agency plans name the city: Mumbai. You pick the location at setup. On web and cloud plans you can move to another server later from the plan dashboard, though Hostinger warns that locations depend on capacity. It doesn't name the Indian city for web and cloud plans, so check the location selector when you sign up. Hostinger's CDN is available for regions without a local server.

For most Indian blogs and small business sites, that's a local server at the lowest intro price in this guide. Budget for the renewal: Premium goes from ₹139 to ₹449 a month before GST. In fairness to readers, Hostinger pays affiliates nothing on renewals or monthly plans, so this is a recommendation on location and price. You can choose Hostinger's India location at signup.

MilesWeb and local Indian hosts

A local host makes most sense when your audience is almost entirely in India. MilesWeb runs Indian data centres, bills in rupees and states its GST treatment openly. Its data-centre page lists India, the UK, the US and Romania. Its Starter plan covers one website with 10 GB of storage, so it suits small sites. MilesWeb doesn't pay us, which doesn't stop us recommending it where it fits. The renewal-banner contradiction above is the reason to read its comparison table before you pay.

The trade-off with a single-country host is reach. If your visitors start arriving from the Gulf, Singapore or the UK, a host with several regions plus a CDN adapts more easily. We map those options country by country on the web hosting by location hub.

What about a CDN instead?

A CDN helps but doesn't replace an Indian server for dynamic sites. Edge caches in Indian cities serve images, stylesheets and scripts quickly even if your server sits abroad. What they can't cache is personal or live content: a logged-in page, a cart, a search result. Those requests still travel to the origin and pay the full distance. A static brochure site on a European server behind a good CDN can feel fast in India; a WooCommerce store on the same setup won't. We set out the trade-offs in CDN vs local hosting.

Data residency: India's DPDP Act

India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act became law in 2023. Its implementing rules, the DPDP Rules 2025, were notified in the Gazette dated 13 November 2025 and announced by the government's Press Information Bureau the next day, with obligations phased in over up to 18 months. The government has since consulted on shortening parts of that timeline, so check the current dates. On transfers abroad, the Act takes a negative-list approach: personal data may go overseas except to countries the government restricts. Some sector regulators set stricter localisation rules for certain data.

For most small sites, that means hosting in India isn't a legal requirement, though it keeps things simple. If you handle financial, health or other sensitive data, check the current position with a professional. This is general information, not legal advice; our data residency basics guide covers the wider picture.

Edge cases for Indian sites

  • Audience split between India and the Gulf. Mumbai is about 1,935 km from Dubai, so an Indian server serves both reasonably. Add a CDN for static files.
  • Apps rather than websites. If you're deploying containers or databases, AWS, Google Cloud and Azure all have Indian regions; Google Cloud's Delhi region suits north India.
  • Paying GST as a business. If you're GST-registered, ask the host for a GST invoice with your GSTIN so you can claim input credit.
  • Long prepay terms. Hostinger's Indian intro price needs 48 months upfront. Check the refund window before paying four years at once.

India in the bigger picture

India seldom stands alone in a hosting decision. If your visitors also come from South-East Asia, compare an Indian server with the regional hub in our Singapore and Asia hosting guide. If they're spread across the world, a single origin plus a CDN may serve them better. Whatever you choose, confirm the location on the plan you're buying on the day you buy it, because locations and prices both change.

India hosting questions, answered

Do I need an India-based server for an Indian website?
For the best speed, yes. An Indian server keeps the round-trip floor near 10 ms, against about 129 ms to a US East data centre, on every request. A mostly static site behind a CDN can manage from abroad; a store or web app shouldn't.
Should I pick an EU or US hosting region for an Indian audience?
The EU, if India isn't available. Frankfurt is about 6,560 km from Mumbai and US East about 12,860 km, so the EU's distance penalty is roughly half. Singapore, at about 3,900 km, is better than either.
Does Hostinger have a data centre in India?
Yes. Hostinger's support article, read 20 Oct 2026, lists India as a server location for web, cloud and VPS plans, and names Mumbai for its Agency plans. It doesn't name the city for web and cloud plans.
How much does web hosting cost in India with GST?
On Hostinger's 48-month term, Single is ₹69 a month before GST (about ₹81 with 18%), renewing at ₹289 (about ₹341). MilesWeb Premium is ₹99 before GST in its current sale, and the comparison table on its own page lists renewal at ₹289. Prices as read on 21 Oct 2026.
Does India's DPDP Act require me to host in India?
Not as a general rule. The Act lets personal data go abroad except to countries the government restricts, and its rules, notified on 13 November 2025, phase in over up to 18 months. Some sectors are stricter. This isn't legal advice.
