Web Hosting in Pakistan (2026): Nearest Servers, Routes and .pk Domains
For visitors in Pakistan, the nearest big-cloud data centres are in India and the Gulf, because neither AWS nor Google Cloud lists a Pakistan region (checked 18 Oct 2026). From Karachi, the distance floor is about 9 ms round trip to Mumbai and 12 ms to Dubai; from Lahore, about 4 ms to Delhi. A mainstream shared host with an India location, such as Hostinger, is the simple route for a small site. A local Pakistani host makes sense when you want rupee billing and local support.
Two things decide the choice: where most of your visitors are, and how you want to pay. This guide maps the regions closest to Karachi and Lahore, compares the three routes, and covers .pk domains. Distances are our arithmetic, not measured tests, and vendor details were read from their own pages on 18 Oct 2026 unless another date is shown.
Where the nearest servers are
The two largest public clouds publish full region lists, and neither includes Pakistan. AWS lists Asia Pacific (Mumbai) and (Hyderabad) in India, plus Middle East (UAE) and (Bahrain); the Middle East regions are opt-in, so you enable them in your account before use. Google Cloud lists Mumbai and Delhi in India, Doha in Qatar, and Dammam in Saudi Arabia, where access is restricted. Microsoft's region page lists UAE North and Qatar Central, plus Central, South and West India.
Mainstream shared hosts work the same way at a smaller scale. Hostinger's support article lists India, Indonesia and Malaysia as its Asian locations for web and cloud hosting, and you choose one at setup. That makes India the closest location a typical shared plan offers for Pakistan.
| Provider | Nearest regions | Notes | Floor from Karachi | Floor from Lahore |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AWS | Mumbai, Hyderabad, UAE, Bahrain | UAE and Bahrain are opt-in | 8.8 ms (Mumbai) | 13.9 ms (Mumbai) |
| Google Cloud | Mumbai, Delhi, Doha, Dammam | Dammam access restricted | 8.8 ms (Mumbai) | 4.3 ms (Delhi) |
| Microsoft Azure | UAE North, Qatar Central, three India regions | UAE North is in Dubai | 11.8 ms (UAE North) | 19.9 ms (UAE North) |
| Hostinger (shared) | India, Indonesia, Malaysia | City not named for web plans | 8.8 ms if Mumbai | 13.9 ms if Mumbai |
The floors use straight-line distance, counting one millisecond of round trip for each 100 km of fibre. Real routes are longer, and the path your visitors' internet providers take decides the real figure, so treat a region that looks close on the map as a candidate to test, not a guarantee.
Karachi and Lahore point in different directions
Pakistan is long enough north to south that the nearest region changes with your audience. Karachi sits closest to Mumbai and the Gulf. Lahore sits very close to Delhi and further from the Gulf. If most of your readers are in Punjab, a Delhi region has the lowest floor; if they're in Sindh, Mumbai or Dubai.
A server in Europe is a reasonable fallback, at under 60 ms of floor from either city, if your audience is split between Pakistan and the UK or EU. A US East server is the worst fit for a mainly Pakistani audience, at about 120 ms of floor before any routing overhead. Our guide to how to choose a data centre location shows how to weigh a mixed audience.
Three ways to host a site for Pakistan
- A local Pakistani host. Billing in rupees, local support hours and familiar payment options. Ask where the servers physically are, because a local company may run them abroad.
- A mainstream shared host with an India location. Low prices, WordPress tools, a CDN and 24/7 support. Hostinger is the main example; pick India at setup.
- A cloud region in India or the Gulf. AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, or a managed layer on top of them. Most control and scale, but you manage more yourself and billing is in dollars.
Hostinger's prices are set per country site. On its US site, Premium cost $2.49 a month with 48 months paid upfront in its Black Friday sale, then $10.99 on renewal (read 26 Oct 2026); its Indian site, which we covered in our India hosting guide, lists rupee prices before GST. Check the price shown to you at checkout, and look at the renewal before the intro. Check Hostinger's locations and prices.
.pk domains: price and term
PKNIC runs the .pk registry, covering .pk, .com.pk, .net.pk, .org.pk and other second-level names. On 1 August 2026 it raised the fee by Rs 300, to Rs 2,100 per domain per year for registrants based in Pakistan. Registrants or registrars outside Pakistan pay $15.99 per domain per year. PKNIC bills on a two-year basis, so the first payment covers two years. A .pk name signals a Pakistani audience to visitors, but it doesn't change where the site is hosted; that's still your server choice. Our server location and SEO guide explains how country domains and hosting location interact.
Questions to ask before you buy
Whichever route you pick, a few direct questions to the host's sales or support team save a painful move later. Ask in writing and keep the answers with your order confirmation.
- Which city is my server in? "Asia" or "India" on a plan card isn't enough; you want the city, or at least the region name.
- Can I move the site to another location later, and is that free? Hostinger's help pages say active web and cloud plans can be relocated through the plan settings; many hosts treat a move as a new order.
- What is the renewal price, in my currency, for the term I'm buying? The intro rate only covers the first term.
- Which payment methods work for renewals? A card that worked at signup can fail a year later; check automatic renewal options before the first bill.
- Is there a CDN, and does it have nodes near Pakistan? A CDN helps images and scripts, but your origin still serves logins, carts and anything personalised.
A host that answers these clearly is usually one that will answer support tickets clearly too. Vague replies about location or renewals are a reason to keep looking. Once you have answers from two or three hosts, put them in one table with the renewal price in rupees for your chosen term. The cheapest intro offer often stops looking cheap once the renewal, the domain and any paid backups sit next to it. Keep that table; it's also your checklist at renewal time.
Edge cases
- Payment. International hosts bill in dollars by card or other methods they list at checkout. If that's a problem, a local host or reseller is the practical route.
- Gulf-only cloud regions. AWS UAE and Bahrain must be enabled in your account before use, and Google's Dammam region has restricted access.
- Data rules. If you handle regulated data such as banking or health records, check local requirements before choosing a foreign region. Our data residency basics list the questions to ask. Not legal advice.
- Mostly diaspora traffic. If most readers are in the UK, the Gulf or North America, host near them instead and use a CDN for Pakistan.
